Laptop broadband is the term some people are now using using for Mobile Broadband. It stands to reason; broadband on your laptop. However, laptop broadband could be misconstrued as any type of broadband connection on your laptop whether it is a fixed broadband connection, broadband through wi-fi and not necessarily the true freedom that mobile broadband gives you.
But isn't the term mobile broadband similarly confusing? It could and can mean Broadband on your mobile phone, however the industry has made it possible for us to connect a usb dongle or similar device to our laptops and benefit from the mobile phone networks and receive a broadband connection through those networks.
Another misconception is that you need a mobile phone to be able to access mobile broadband on your laptop. This is totally untrue. You do not need a mobile phone. If you do have a mobile phone on one network you could choose a totally different network for your mobile broadband.
